Patrícia Ferraz de Matos, Integrated Researcher at CeiED, Universidade Lusófona, participated in two major international academic events in July 2026, strengthening the Centre’s presence in global research networks and academic debates.

From 21 to 24 July, she participated in the 19th EASA Biennial Conference, held at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, which brought together more than 2,000 participants from all continents. As part of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA), Patrícia Ferraz de Matos co-chaired two panels within the History of Anthropology Network (HOAN) and the Europeanist Network (EuroNet), presenting a paper on polarised discourses surrounding colonialism. She also took part in editorial and scientific network meetings within EASA and mentored the Europeanist Network meeting, which she has co-coordinated since 2020. These activities contributed to strengthening scientific and editorial partnerships and developing future opportunities for international research.

On 25 and 26 July, she also participated in the Third International Conference of the World Association of Authors and Researchers (WAAR), held in Senegal and online, under the theme “Decolonisation through Language and Literature”. As a Plenary Speaker, she delivered the lecture “Exercises for Decolonising Thought and Practice Today: Examples Related to the Portuguese Case”, at an event that brought together around 150 participants from different countries. The plenary session highlighted the role of language and literature in processes of decolonising thought and practices across different geographical and historical contexts.

Participation in these two events highlights CeiED’s engagement with international academic networks and its contribution to contemporary debates on anthropology, colonialism, decolonisation, and knowledge production.
