A meeting of the Council of Science and Education Policy Research Centres was held on January 4th, at the proposal of CeiED’s Director, Professor António Teodoro. The main point of the meeting was to debate a Ministry of Education document about the Revision of the Legal Regime of Initial Teacher Training.

The meeting was attended by the directors, or their representatives, of all the 16 research centres that make up the Council.

The Council decided to create a commission, coordinated by Professor Maria Assunção Flores (CIEC, U. Minho), which will analyse the already existing opinions and manifestations (from universities and polytechnic institutes, and their organic units) in order to prepare a statement of the centres about the principles that should guide the revision of the legal regime of Initial Teacher Training, surely one of the priorities that the Government, after the legislative elections on January 30th, will have to consider.
