Marta Jecu, PhD Integrated Researcher at CeiED, is the curator of the exhibition “Sobre a Paisagem” [«About the Landscape»] currently on display at the Romanian Cultural Institute, in Lisbon.

The exhibition merges archival material from the early 20th century until the 1990s, with recent artistic works in the Romanian context. It represents a reflection on the political connotations/instrumentalizations that the landscape has suffered over time since the beginning of the 20th century.

In this way the works reveal urban and natural landscapes, and evoke key moments of landart and ecological art, in Romania, which functioned as ways of resisting cultural and political censorship during the dictatorship. The traces left on Romanian landscapes still have a marked presence on their daily lives

The exhibition will be available until 31 January 2022.
