Inês Vieira presents the book Gingar na Cidade. Bicycle, participation and transformation of the territory

Last Thursday, 20th February, the book ‘Gingar na Cidade. Bicycle, participation and transformation of the territory’, a work that explores the relationship between territory, mobility and community involvement in Marvila, Lisbon.
The event featured a presentation by Rita d'Ávila Cachado and the participation of the editors Henrique Chaves and Inês Vieira, a researcher at CeiED, as well as the authors Bárbara Ferreira, Jéssica Lucena, Laura Pomesano, Patrícia Pereira and Luís Reis.
The book, published by Livraria Tigre de Papel, is divided into two parts: the first analyses the history of popular sport and the urban transformations of the parish, while the second highlights the role of the bicycle as a tool for work and social inclusion, delving into the impact of the Gingada project and other initiatives in the region.
Inês Vieira, co-organiser of the book, has been an active voice in the study of urban dynamics and sustainable mobility, reinforcing the importance of citizen participation in the reconfiguration of urban spaces. The book reflects this commitment, articulating academic research and community action.
The Gingada Project was co-funded by the BIP/ZIP programme (Lisbon City Council) and promoted by Rés do Chão and Grupo Recreativo Janz a Associados, with the involvement of various partners, including CeiED and Universidade Lusófona. The work also received support from other projects, such as BIP/ZIP Roda Viva and initiatives funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
The launch was a moment of reflection and sharing, reinforcing the commitment to community development and sustainable mobility in changing urban territories.
