
The ibero-american network RUN | Citizen science and co-creation for regeneration of urban rivers and mitigation of risks is organising the series of webinars “URBAN RIVERS”.
Coordinated by the research group CIDATE: Citizen science in understanding and transforming the territory and funded by Programa Iberoamericano de Ciencia y Tecnología para el Desarrollo (Cyted), RUN brings together 15 research groups from 8 countries to explore how regeneration, renaturalisation and risk mitigation of the risks with the riverain community can be a more sustainable path.
On April 11, 2022, Carlos Smaniotto Costa, RUN coordinator and Nagayamma Aragão, opened the webinars introducing the RUN network, its goals and partnerships and discussing the issue of urban rivers as a research strand. The studies undertaken in Portugal, Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe by the CIDATE were discussed and addressing an analysis of the river basins and participatory strategies to engage the community in designing sustainable solutions.
The next webinar will bring on May 9, 2022, at 5 pm (Portugal), via ZOOM, the audience to the Cuenca de Besos a case study coordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain).
