TALIS 2018

João Sampaio Maia, Daniela Mascarenhas and Vítor Rosa, CeiED researchers, publish a chapter in the book Issues’22 – Issues in Education”.

Entitled “TALIS 2018: a comparison between seven European Mediterranean Countries”, this text compares the results obtained in the 61 quantified indicators of the two OECD reports on TALIS 2018 by the Mediterranean countries of the European Union that participated in it (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Slovenia and Croatia), crossing two criteria: (a) the value presented in each indicator for each country is statistically superior, inferior or not different from the OECD average; and (b) the indicator is favourable or unfavourable for improving the quality of education in the OECD perspective. These results tell us that the relevance of a factor in educational quality is different for head teachers and teachers, and that any new reform in education should take account of the views of these professionals.
