Gorete Pereira

Gorete Pereira is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Madeira. She holds a PhD in Educational Sciences, with a specialisation in Pedagogical Innovation, from the University of Madeira, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCE-UP).

She is Vice-President of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FCS) of the University of Madeira for the 2024–2026 term and Scientific Coordinator of the Department of Educational Sciences (DES). She is also Programme Director of the Master’s in Pedagogical Innovation and of the Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Education.

She is an integrated researcher at CeiED – Madeira Branch, and a researcher and Deputy Director of the Centre for Research in Education of the University of Madeira (CIE-UMa), where she leads the Pedagogical Innovation research line. She is a member of the Group for Reflection and Research on Curriculum and Digital Technologies, a section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (SPCE) devoted to the intersections between curricular processes and the digital transformation of education.

Her research focuses on Pedagogical Innovation, Learning Scenarios, Technology and Innovation in Education, Educational Research, Teaching Methods, Teacher Education and Pedagogical Movements.

She takes part in several European projects as a member of research teams. She is also UMa’s coordinator in the SAPIEN project, which brings together nine higher education institutions to promote innovation and excellence in teaching.

She supervises doctoral students and students on both research and professional master’s programmes. She has served extensively on academic examination panels as chair, examiner and supervisor.
