Teresa Teixeira Lopo

Biographical note

Teresa Teixeira Lopo is currently a researcher at CeiED – the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development of Lusófona University, Portugal, and co-director of the Observatory for Education and Training Policies (partnership with CES – Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra).

She is a sociologist, has a Master (2010) and a PhD (2021) in Education Sciences – Education, Society and Development from NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

She has worked in various national and international consultancy projects, and research teams at UIDEF – Research and Development Unit in Education and Training, CAPP – Center for Administration and Public Policies and Cics.Nova – Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences addressing the themes of policy and politics of education.

She has been involved in the organisation of national and international conferences and congresses and in activities for the promotion of scientific culture. She has published articles in specialized journals. She is an adhoc reviewer for The International Journal of Qualitative Methods (Scopus Q1; IF 2021-2022 2,767; since 2020) and for Education Policy Analysis Archives (Scopus Q2; since 2022).

At Lusófona University she has taught Curricular Units and Seminars in the Undergraduate Courses of Education Sciences – Social Education and Sociology and in the PhD in Education, namely, in the areas of Sociology of Education and Social Theory and Education. She was an Invited Adjunct Professor at the IPL-Politécnico de Lisboa from 2011 to 2017.

In 2016 and 2017 she worked with IGEC – Inspeção-Geral da Educação e Ciência as an External Expert-Evaluator of Schools. She is, since 2021, an Expert on Quality Assessment of the National Erasmus+ Education and Training Agency (KA2 – Cooperation among Organisations and Institutions).

In 2012 she received the Merit and Excellence Award as Best Master’s Student in Education Sciences 2010/2011 from NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities. As a Doctoral Student and PhD Candidate she won five Research Fellowships funded by FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, and was part of winning teams of two SEED Projects, with the allocation of funding for exploratory research activities.

She is an Elected Member of the Scientific Council of the Lusófona University. She is an Elected Member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Education and Administration. She is an Elected Member of the Steering Committee of CeiED – Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development.
