Abstract

This project constitutes an analysis of Visual Arts teacher training after April 25, 1974, characterized by qualitative research collecting information on teachers' perceptions. The general objective is to unveil whether the initial training was adequate for professional integration.

The research questions are: What were the models of Visual Arts teacher training used after April 25th? Have these models been adapted to professional needs and requirements over time?

The groups targeted for surveys and interviews are divided according to the training model. This work is divided into: the history of education and Visual Arts; main training models; study of the profile of teachers from each group of each model; conclusions from the analysis of interviewees' perceptions. The expected results are the strengths and weaknesses of this training with a view to formulating possible suggestions.
