The third session of the 2026 Capuchos Conversations series, held as part of the Festival de Música dos Capuchos (Almada), was devoted to the work of Camilo Pessanha, marking the centenary of his death. The event took place on 19 May at the Âmbito Cultural El Corte Inglés auditorium in Lisbon.

Moderated by Carlos Vaz Marques, the discussion brought together Catarina Nunes de Almeida, lecturer and researcher at CeiED, and the writer Pedro Mexia, for a reflection on the poetry and literary universe of one of the foremost figures of Portuguese Symbolism.

Within the scope of the aforementioned competition, it is hereby informed that, according to the referenced public notice, two (2) applications were received. We hereby communicate the result of the evaluation and the consequent final ranking of the candidates.

Curriculum Assessment Classification:

After analysing the documentation submitted as part of the application, the Evaluation Panel decided that the applications would proceed to the curriculum assessment stage, with the following results being assigned:

Interview Classification

Considering the results and the possibility described in the Public Notice, the Evaluation Panel decided not to interview the candidates, with the curriculum assessment corresponding to 100% of the evaluation for the candidates.

Thus, within the scope of the aforementioned applications, the candidates selected for the award of scholarships were: Rita Fidalgo and Natália de Almeida.

Applications are open for the award of two (2) Master’s Research Grants within the scope of the project EDU-LAB – European Youth in Education and in Transition to the Labour Market, reference CeiED-EDU-LAB-101177428, funded by the Horizon Europe Programme, and developed within the activities of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Education and Development Studies (CeiED), under the following conditions:

Scientific Area

Social and Human Sciences – Psychology, Education or Educational Sciences

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:

• Hold a Master’s degree in Social and Human Sciences – Psychology, Education or Educational Sciences;
• Proficient command of the Portuguese language;
• Proficient written and spoken command of the English language;
• Strong theoretical and empirical knowledge of research methodologies;
• Experience in research activities, including data collection and organisation;
• Experience in qualitative data analysis.

The following preferred requirements will be considered:

• Enrolment in a PhD programme in Social Sciences or Education (at the time of contract signature), implying supervision or co-supervision by the Principal Investigator of the EDU-LAB project;
• Knowledge and/or experience of working closely with young people;
• Previous experience in research projects;
• Experience in the use of qualitative data analysis software (e.g. NVivo, MaxQDA).

Work Plan

The activities to be carried out include:

• Participation in national and international project meetings;
• Participation in the facilitation of focus groups and workshops with young people aimed at exploring their educational and professional trajectories;
• Data analysis and production of analytical summaries based on data collected through focus groups and workshops;
• Support in the preparation of progress reports and the final project report;
• Support in the organisation of scientific activities planned within the project;
• Participation in dissemination and outreach activities of the project.

Applicable Legislation and Regulations

The grant is awarded under the terms of Law No. 40/2004 of 18 August (Research Grant Holder Statute), as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, the FCT Research Grant Regulations (Regulation No. 950/2019 of 16 December), and the Research Grant Regulations of Universidade Lusófona.

Place of Activity

The activities related to the grant will be carried out at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Education and Development Studies (CeiED) of Universidade Lusófona – Porto University Centre, under the scientific supervision of Dr Filomena Parada, Principal Investigator of the EDU-LAB project.

Duration of the Grant

The grant will have a duration of 12 months, including a 4-month experimental period, with an expected start date of 1 February 2026. The grant contract may be renewed for equal or different periods, subject to financial availability and the scientific needs of CeiED.

Monthly Maintenance Allowance

The monthly maintenance allowance amounts to €1,309.64, in accordance with the table of values for grants directly awarded by FCT, I.P., currently in force in Portugal. This amount is supplemented by voluntary social security contributions at the first contribution level, should the grant holder opt for this coverage, as well as by personal accident insurance.

The grant will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

Grant activities are carried out under an exclusive dedication regime, in accordance with Article 5 of the Research Grant Holder Statute.

Selection Methods

The selection of candidates will be conducted by a panel composed of Dr Filomena Parada (Principal Investigator of the EDU-LAB project), Dr João Filipe Matos (Researcher of the EDU-LAB project), and Dr Lucimar Dantas (Researcher of the EDU-LAB project), based on curriculum evaluation, which may be complemented by an interview.

The curriculum evaluation will account for 75% of the final score and the interview for 25%. Should the panel decide not to conduct interviews, the curriculum evaluation will correspond to 100% of the final assessment.

If interviews are conducted:

• For candidates whose native language is Portuguese, the interview will be conducted in English;
• For candidates whose native language is English, the interview will be conducted in Portuguese;
• For candidates with another native language, the interview will be conducted in both Portuguese and English.

Publication and Notification of Results

The final results will be published in the form of a ranked list, displayed in a visible and public place at CeiED and made available on the CeiED website.

Candidates may submit a complaint within 10 working days, counted from the day following the publication of the final ranking list.

Successful candidates will be notified by email.

Application Period and Submission

The call for applications is open from 12 January 2026 to 17 January 2026.

Applications must be submitted, obligatorily, together with the following documents:

• Curriculum Vitae;
• Copy of academic degree certificates;
• Certificates of training and/or scientific publications, where applicable.

Failure to comply with the application deadline may, at the discretion of the selection committee, result in:

• Extension of the application period;
• Award of the grant to another candidate;
• Non-award of the grant.

Professors Rosa Serradas and Lucimar Dantas, as well as doctoral students Susana Oliveira and Felisberto Costa, took part in a mobility visit to the University of Seville from April 10 to 13.

On March 21, at 5:30 p.m., the first session of the II Cycle of Debates for Guidance Counselors, promoted by the CeiED Citizen Science Doctoral College, took place. The theme of the activity was Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Doctoral Guidance, presented and discussed by the guest for the session, Professor Susana Pinto, from the University of Aveiro, CIDTFF.

On this occasion, Professor Susana Pinto began by presenting general data on internationalization in higher education and doctoral studies in Portugal. She introduced the concepts of intercultural doctoral supervision and cultural competence in order to highlight the need to discuss the topic and also presented the results of the research that has been carried out at the University of Aveiro on the subject. Together with the participants, she discussed excerpts from interviews with doctoral students from different countries and their supervisors to illustrate perceived differences in the linguistic-cultural, pedagogical-academic and research cultures. Participants were invited to discuss the opportunities and challenges in supervising international doctoral students as a way of recognizing the knowledge and culture of others, advancing new means of producing scientific knowledge and ensuring an "ethical internationalization" that goes beyond numbers and puts the person at the center of the process.
