CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR A RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP | Ref. BI_Licenciado_2024.16621.PEX-ROMPANTE

COFAC - Cooperativa de Animação e Formação Cultural CRL / Lusófona University hereby open a call for applications for the award of one Research Scholarship for a Bachelor’s degree holder enrolled in a Master’s programme, within the scope of the participation of CeiED - Interdisciplinary Research Center for Education and Development in the project Rupture, Popular Power and Emancipation? University Students’ Participation in Literacy Movements (1974–1976) / ROMPANTE, reference 2024.16621.PEX, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P./MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC).

Admission Requirements

Mandatory requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities;
  • Enrolment in a Master’s degree programme at a Higher Education Institution;
  • Proficient command of the Portuguese language;
  • Solid training and/or experience in audio and video recording and editing.

Preferred factors

  • Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication, Audiovisual Communication Technology, Multimedia Communication, Digital and Multimedia Arts, Educational Sciences or History;
  • Enrolment in a Master’s programme in Digital Humanities;
  • Previous participation in research projects;
  • Knowledge and/or experience in data collection, cataloguing, metadata creation and data management (texts, images and videos);
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the creation of visual content for editorial and digital design;
  • Knowledge and/or experience in report writing;
  • Strong communication skills, autonomy and sense of responsibility.

Work Plan

The Research Fellow will carry out activities supporting the organisation and development of the project, namely:

  • Collaborating in the various project activities;
  • Assisting in data collection and processing, including video recording of oral testimonies, post-production and archiving tasks;
  • Supporting the indexing of recorded video testimonies, ensuring the integration of technical, administrative and descriptive metadata;
  • Assisting in drafting working documents and reports;
  • Participating in communication and dissemination activities, as well as managing content on the project website.

Applicable Legislatiod Regulations

Law no. 40/2004 of 18 August (Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow) and subsequent amendments; FCT Regulation (National Agency for Science and Technology) for Advanced Training and Human Resources Qualification; and the Scholarship Regulations of Lusófona University.

Place of Work

Activities will be carried out at CeiED - Interdisciplinary Research Center for Education and Development of Lusófona University, under the scientific supervision of Professor Teresa Teixeira Lopo (Principal Investigator of the Project).

Duration of the Scholarship

The scholarship will last for 14 months, starting on 20 April 2026. Scholarship contracts may be extended for equal or different periods until the end of the project.

Monthly Maintenance Allowance

The monthly allowance amounts to 1.040,98 €, in accordance with the scholarship regulations of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT).

This amount is supplemented by voluntary social security contributions (first tier), should the candidate opt for them, as well as personal accident insurance.

The scholarship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

The fellowship is awarded on an exclusive dedication basis, under Article 5 of the Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow.

Selection Methods

Applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee composed of:

  • Professor Teresa Teixeira Lopo (Principal Investigator);
  • Professor Ana Maria Seixas (representative of the collaborating institution – Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra);
  • Professor Paulo Ferreira (member of the research team in the Audiovisual, Multimedia and Interactivity area).

Selection will be based on:

  1. Curriculum evaluation (50%) – assessed from 1 to 10 points, considering the project objectives, the nature of the activities, preferred admission criteria, and the academic and professional relevance of the CV;
  2. Motivation letter (20%) – assessed from 1 to 10 points;
  3. Selection interview (30%) – assessed from 1 to 10 points, to be conducted with the three highest-ranked candidates from the curriculum evaluation, focusing on knowledge and skills.

The jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship if the quality of the applications is deemed insufficient.

Publication and Notification of Results

The final results will be published as a ranked list, displayed in a visible and public place at CeiED and published on its website (https://www.ceied.ulusofona.pt).

Candidates may lodge a complaint within 10 working days from the publication of the final ranking list.

The selected candidate will be notified by email.

  • Copy of the Bachelor’s degree certificate, including a list of completed courses and respective grades;
