CeiED researcher Lucimar Dantas attended the latest meeting of the Thematic Peer Group on Learning & Teaching (EUA-TPG) organized by the European University Association, which took place in Norrköping, Sweden, on November 14-15.
Each year, the EUA-TPG focuses on specific themes related to learning and teaching. In 2024, Universidade Lusófona is part of the TPG Learning and Teaching to Empower Students. Throughout a year of collaborative work, the TPG Learning and Teaching to Empower Students discussed the challenges facing higher education in the fields of teaching and learning. The group explored how universities can create conditions that foster active student participation. Topics such as the concept of "empowerment," power structures within institutions, the role of leadership, and pedagogical practices for nurturing student autonomy were central to the discussions. Student perspectives were also considered, with direct participation in TPG meetings and through focus groups conducted in various countries.
The final meeting in Sweden focused on drafting the overarching framework for the final report, summarizing the TPG’s work. This report will include examples of best practices for empowering students and a set of recommendations for European universities, to be published by the EUA in the first half of 2025.
