MedMSE Project Promotes School Mediation with Impact on Over One Thousand Students
On May 12, the first meeting of the MedMSE – Mediation for Socio-Educational Improvement in Schools project took place at Universidade Lusófona in Porto. The event marked a turning point in the implementation of the initiative, providing an opportunity to assess a school year of work that has already benefited over one thousand students, contributing to their educational success and the prevention of school dropout. The intervention has focused on promoting civic coexistence within the school clusters of Alexandre Herculano, António Nobre, and Cerco do Porto.
The MedMSE project is developed through a partnership between the Municipality of Porto and Universidade Lusófona, within the scope of ReLeCo – Social and Educational Mediation.
The project targets students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education and secondary education, as well as teachers, school staff, and families. Since its inception, the initiative has reached 1,068 students, 220 teachers, and 102 non-teaching staff, reflecting strong engagement from the educational community.
The meeting brought together all partner entities to engage in a joint reflection on school mediation and to define the next steps of the intervention, including training actions and the creation of mediation structures in schools, aiming to institutionalize sustainable practices for coexistence and peaceful conflict resolution.
The MedMSE project is funded by Investment RE-C03-i06.03 – "Integrated Operations in Disadvantaged Communities in the Porto Metropolitan Area", under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
