6. Social and Educational Mediation

The complex social and cultural dynamics and transformations resulting from the contemporary world, in terms of organisation, conditions and values, impose the need to (re)create processes of social interaction, increasing the demand for renewed dialogical means of intercomprehension that contribute to building a democratic culture, citizenship and peace, as well as harmonious social development.

It is in this context that mediation has asserted itself through its potential for educational, empowering, and transformative intervention.

To contribute to scientific development in the epistemological, methodological and praxeological field of mediation, the ReLeCo Social and Educational Mediation [MedSoE] follows a line of research in which its action is fundamentally focused on:

  1. Deepen theoretically and conceptually the understanding of social mediation.
  2.  Generate knowledge about mediation as a methodology for socio-educational intervention, including its various dimensions, dynamics, and typologies.
  3. Develop interdisciplinary studies around mediation and other thematic areas such as education, justice, inclusion, interculturality, peace studies, education for peace, and education for citizenship.
  4. Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences among researchers and graduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral students.
  5. Support social mediation projects in a logic of action-research-action.
