Abstract
This report presents the research we intend to carry out on the topic of educational inclusion.
Based on the principles of equity and equal opportunities, with the aim of providing a quality school for all students, regardless of the difficulties some may have, inclusion has been one of the major challenges facing schools for some years now.
The overall objective of this research is to analyze the perceptions of special education teachers and 1st Cycle teachers, as well as Portuguese teachers in the 2nd and 3rd cycles of regular education, who teach in primary schools in three municipalities on the island of Madeira, on the implementation of measures to support learning and inclusion defined by DL 54/2018.
In accordance with the objective of the research, we opted for a qualitative approach, drawing on the work of Flick (2009), Yin (2005), Amado (2017), and Morgado (2013), among other authors. As data collection techniques and instruments, we will use document consultation and semi-structured interviews, following the guidance of authors such as Bogdan and Bilklen (1994); Lüdke and André (2005).
The data will be processed through documentary analysis and Bardin content analysis (2005). Teachers from six schools in three municipalities will participate, selected based on the principle of theoretical foundation. The results are expected to reveal the main facilitators and difficulties regarding the implementation of measures to support learning and inclusion, and to contribute to reflection on inclusive practices, offering insights for the improvement of teaching practices.
