On October 23 and 24, 2025, the 4th International Congress on “Humanism, Human Rights and Citizenship” was held in Lisbon, organized by the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development (CeiED) of Universidade Lusófona.

From 8 to 11 September 2025, Paris will host the first station of CIRCUL’ARTS – Connecting Critical Pedagogies, Inclusive Art Forms and Alternative Barometers for Urban Sustainability, a COST Action (CA23117) bringing together researchers and artists from around the world to explore the intersections between art, critical pedagogies, and urban sustainability.

The event, held at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) and the Maison de l’Amérique Latine, features an international conference (8–10 September), a training school with invited experts, and on 11 September a Core Group Meeting followed by a film screening and artists’ discussion.

Participants include experts from diverse fields – education, visual arts, theatre, music, urban studies, and sustainability – with contributions from Europe, Latin America, and Africa. The programme highlights innovative approaches to pluriversal pedagogies, urban artistic practices, creative ecologies, and community participation.

Running from 2024 to 2028, CIRCUL’ARTS aims to establish a collaborative network of research and practice that fosters inclusive narratives on circularity and sustainability in urban contexts, while valuing local knowledge, historical memory, and artistic forms of expression and exchange.

Subsequently, the Jury unanimously decided to admit the remaining candidates for assessment in accordance with the methodology established in the notice, in line with the defined criteria and weightings, and the following results were recorded in the table below.

Interview Classification

Taking into account the results and the possibility described in the Notice, the Evaluation Panel decided to interview, on 13/01/26, the highest-scoring candidates, with the aim of obtaining information on professional behaviours directly related to the competencies considered essential for the performance of the role.

Thus, within the scope of the applications to the above-mentioned competition, no candidates were selected for the awarding of the position of project manager.

In the event of a complaint, candidates may submit a written statement within a maximum period of 10 working days, counting from the date of receipt of the respective communication. If none of the aforementioned candidates raises any objection within the legal deadline, the decision shall become final.

Universidade Lusófona through the Talent Management Department intends to recruit a Project Manager, with the financial support of FCT/MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC), as part of the base funding of the Research Unit – CeiED/ Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development.

CeiED researcher André Freitas has been invited to share his experience in the writing and publication of scientific articles on research methodologies with the educational community of the International Journal of Research and Method in Education (IJRME), published by Taylor & Francis.

“Èṣù and the Decolonization of Thought – Documentary Screening and Conversation with Babá King”, to be held on July 16th, 2025, at Universidade Lusófona (Room S.0.11 – Campo Grande, 376, Lisbon), featuring Professor Babá King and moderated by Babá Pedro Barbosa.

Prof. Dr. Bàbálórìsà Adesiná Síkírù Sàlámì (Babá King) is a Yoruba priest and internationally recognized scholar in the fields of African culture, religion, and epistemologies. Holding a Master’s and a PhD in Sociology from the University of São Paulo, he has played a pivotal role in the systematization of Yoruba oral knowledge and in the affirmation of African cosmologies—especially with regard to the worship and symbolism of Èṣù.

The documentary "Èṣù and the Universe" offers a critical reflection on the effects of colonization on social and religious imaginaries. It exposes how Èṣù, a central figure in Yoruba cosmology, has been erroneously associated with evil and malevolence through colonial narratives. The event emphasizes the importance of preserving African collective memory—not only as a historical record, but as a living structure of knowledge, resistance, and ancestry. In this context, the cosmology of Èṣù serves as a vital tool for rebuilding epistemes that challenge Eurocentric logic and for advancing the decolonization of knowledge.

In his lecture, Babá King will delve into these themes, highlighting Èṣù’s role as a mediator, transformer, and guardian of knowledge, whose understanding is essential for strengthening Afro-diasporic identities and for building truly decolonial thought. The event will conclude with a debate featuring scholars, religious leaders, and activists, fostering a space for critical and intercultural dialogue on possible paths for the decolonization of thought and spirituality in the contemporary world.
