Professor Luzia Lima-Rodrigues, a member of CeiED and Director of the Master’s Degree in Special Education and the Postgraduate Programme in Special Education and Inclusive Education at Universidade Lusófona, was invited to deliver the opening keynote at the II International PROFEI Seminar, the III National PROFEI Seminar (Professional Master’s in Inclusive Education) at UNESPAR (State University of Paraná), and the I Southern Regional Seminar, held from 10 to 12 December 2025 at the UNESPAR Paranaguá campus.

In her keynote lecture entitled “Teacher Education: Pathways to Promoting Equity in Inclusive Pedagogical Practice”, Luzia Lima-Rodrigues presented the results of the research project she coordinated, “Public Policies and Continuing Teacher Education for Inclusive Education”, published in 2024 by Instituto Alana in collaboration with UNESCO/Brazil.

After joining the celebrations of the International Week of Science and Peace promoted by UNESCO in November, the year 2025 concluded with a new milestone in the commitment to science as a common good.

On December 10, CeiED and Universidade Lusófona welcomed Professor Heidi Harju-Luukkainen, Director of the Education Unit at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland).

Lucimar Dantas, researcher at CeiED and co-coordinator of the ReLeCo Learning & Innovation, participated as an invited speaker at the 4th International Conference on the Portuguese and Spanish Languages – CILPE 2025, held on 11–12 November at the University of Cape Verde, in the city of Praia.

The events of 25 November 1975 continue to generate intense historiographical, political, and memorial debates. This was the starting point for the seminar “25 November, 50 Years Later”, which brought together direct protagonists of the events as well as researchers dedicated to studying this decisive moment in contemporary Portuguese history. The meeting offered an innovative, plural and well-informed approach to the antecedents, causes, dynamics, key actors and consequences of 25 November, both nationally and internationally.

Among the speakers, the participation of António Teodoro, director of CeiED, stood out. He took part in Panel 2, dedicated to social and political dynamics, where he presented the paper “Stabilising, organising and developing what was possible: The implications of the military crisis of the Hot Summer of 1975 for education policies” (PDF, 145KB).

Panel 2 also featured contributions from Jacinto Godinho (CICANT – Universidade Lusófona), who addressed 25 November as both a “coup” and a “live television blackout”; Nuno Pinheiro (CIES-IUL), who discussed the “final days” of the so-called People’s Republic of Almada; and João Francisco Pereira (CFE NOVA-FCSH), who examined the internal divisions within Portuguese Catholicism in the aftermath of the revolutionary period of 1974–1975. The session was moderated by António Araújo.

The participation of António Teodoro reinforces CeiED’s presence in public debate on the memory of the Revolution and democratic consolidation, highlighting the relevance of educational research for understanding the structural effects of political conflicts on public policy.
