Workshop “Teachers’ Trade Unionism: from its origins to the diversity of organizations and projects
The constitution of representative associations of teachers marks decisively, in different historical moments, the very process of construction of the teaching profession. This was the case in the 19th century, at the beginning of the 20th century, or in the 1970s with the creation of what is now the teachers’ trade union movement. This workshop, composed by two sessions, intends to interrogate this process and launch clues of understanding for the current struggles (and its forms of expression) of teachers; and to challenge the development of lines of research that advance knowledge in this field of study so abandoned by the Social Sciences of Education (and Labour).

Interdisciplinary activity LCE-ES
On the 13th of January 2023, a seminar on “Security of the Elderly in the Digital Society” took place at Universidade Lusófona, organized by students of the 1st and 2nd year of the Degree in Education Sciences-Social Education. This seminar, presented in a Webinar format, is the result of an interdisciplinary activity in the 1st semester of the course between two curricular units taught by Professors Dulce Franco (Technologies & Education) and Teresa Ramilo (Gerontology).
A researcher from CeiED discusses the implications of the new admission criteria to higher education
Orlanda Tavares, an integrated researcher at CeiED, was invited by the television channel “SIC” to comment on the implications of the new rules for accessing higher education that were reported in previous weeks, such as the introduction of three mandatory national exams, one of which is Portuguese; the end of mandatory national exams for students to complete secondary education; and the increase, to 50%, of the “weight” of the exam score and decrease, to 35%, of the final classification of secondary education. The report was broadcasted in “Primeiro Jornal”, on February 6, 2023.
