OP.Edu researchers interview Carlos Alberto Torres (UCLA) and Luis Miguel Lázaro Lorente (Universitat de València)
The researchers Inês Vieira (permanent researcher) and Teresa Teixeira Lopo (co-director) of OP. Edu – Observatory of Education and Training Policies interviewed, last June 28 at the premises of Lusófona University in Lisbon, Professor Carlos Alberto Torres, UCLA Distinguished Professor, reference in the political sociology of education, hosted at CeiED under the Fulbright Specialist program during the month of June 2022, and Luis Miguel Lázaro Lorente, Full Professor of Theory and History of Education at the Universitat de València.
Doctoral College of Citizen Science at the 2022 US-CDE Annual Meeting
The Citizen Doctoral College was represented at the annual meeting of the Council for Doctoral Education of the European Universities Association (EUA-CDE) held in Manchester on 22, 23 and 24 June. The experiences of the first year of operation of the CDCC were presented in the parallel session Preparing for the doctorate, along with experiences of doctoral schools from universities in Germany and the Netherlands.
CeiED Workshop | Academic Reflection and Production for the 2021/2022 Academic Year
Last June 23rd, the last session of CeiED Workshop – Academic Reflection and Production of the school year 2021/2022 took place. The CeiED Workshop is an informal space of collaborative work where students and teachers interact for the benefit of a work based on debate and critical reflection around a problem or methodology.

Celebrating his centenary, how can we think about Paulo Freire’s actuality and which other thinkers can contribute to this reflection? Carlos Alberto Torres, Distinguished Professor at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), founder and director of the Paulo Freire Institute in several countries, political sociologist of education of world reference, has facilitated a CeiED Workshop where he has included us in a dense journey of readings, questions and dialogues. Throughout the five sessions of this workshop, Carlos Alberto Torres guided us between methodology, metalanguage, metatheory and Paulo Freire’s theory, reflecting them against the framework of German critical theory in its various generations, with special focus on the work of Hartmut Rosa.

CeiED/ULHT, through two of its Research and Learning Communities, ReLeCo NEA-ES: Nucleus of African Studies – Education and Society and ReLeCo CEM: Culture(s), Education and Memory(s), will coordinate the “Panel 25 – The collective and social function of education in Lusophone Africa and Portugal – Historical and contemporary perspectives of teacher training”, of the 11th Iberian Congress of African Studies “African Transits in the Global World: History and Memories: Inheritance and Innovation” (CIEA11), which will take place between July 6 and 8, 2022. Congresso Ibérico de Estudos Africanos “Trânsitos Africanos no Mundo Global: História e Memórias, Heranças e Inovações” (CIEA11), which will take place between July 6 and 8, 2022, between 09:00 and 10:30, at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.
