Science Schools: Initiation to scientific research and digital experiments for a science of the future

The ‘Science Schools | Initiation to scientific research and digital experiences for future science’ is an activity integrated within the scope of the 2nd edition of the special support 'Summer with Science 2021', promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). This initiative was aimed at higher education students who intended to engage in research and technological internship activities in R&D centers. Students benefited from a research initiation scholarship, under the FCT Scholarship Regulations, obtained through a public competition.

The internship activities of the Summer Schools, based on the pillars of innovation, culture, teaching, and research, were developed from ongoing research projects within the context of three Research and Learning Communities (ReLeCo) of CeiED:

Work Plan

Structured into five components, the work plan of the Science Schools encompassed a set of practical activities, with a strong emphasis on the potential of digital platforms, aiming at interdisciplinary and collaborative research.

  • Internship Practices II – Conceptualization and foundation of research projects
  • Internship Practices III – Techniques and data/information and image collection
  • Internship Practices IV – Digitization of collections and processing of data/information and images Internship Practices V – Dissemination | reflection on science and engagement with society
