Science Schools: Initiation to scientific research and digital experiments for a science of the future

"The 'Science Schools | Initiation to scientific research and digital experiences for future science' was an activity integrated within the scope of the 3^rd edition of the special support 'Summer with Science 2022', promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). This initiative was aimed at higher education students who intended to engage in research and technological internship activities in R&D centers. Students benefited from a research initiation scholarship, under the FCT Scholarship Regulations, obtained through a public competition.

Based on the pillars of innovation, culture, teaching, and research, the research initiation activities of this 3rd edition took place in the following research contexts of CeiED:

• Public Policies and Governance in Education
• Memory, Citizenship and Sociomuseology
• Teaching, Learning & Innovation
• ReMASE-Research Methods in Advanced Studies in Education
• Observatory Op-edu

In the 3^rd edition, three other R&D units from Lusófona University collaborated in co-creation with CeiED, having also had activities for research initiation approved within the framework of the special support Summer with Science: CICANT - Center for Research in Applied Communications, Culture, and New Technologies, CopeLabs - Center for Research in Cognitive and People-Centric Computing, and HEI-Lab-Digital Human Environment Interaction Lab.

The partnership among these four R&D units, as a macro strategy of transversality and interdisciplinarity, aimed to address the intersection between the areas of Education, Digital Culture, Communication, and Behavioral Sciences.

Work Plan

The work plan for the research and development internship encompassed a set of practical research activities. It was structured into five components conducted in an interdisciplinary manner, with a strong emphasis on the potential of digital platforms in the research dissemination process.

• Internship Practices III - Techniques and data/information and image collection
• Internship Practices IV - Digitization of collections and data/information and image processing
• Internship Practices V - Dissemination | Reflection on science and engagement with society
